WASHINGTON – More than two years after its opening, the Native American Veterans Memorial in the nation’s capital was finally dedicated last week in a ceremony lasting more than three hours.

Tribal leaders and citizens and veterans from across the country marched down the National Mall on Veterans Day to a stage at the foot of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Rex Hailey, a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and a Gulf War veteran, drove halfway across the country to attend the celebration.

For the second time in three years, Okarche High School’s yearbook staff has been awarded the gold level of the National Yearbook Program of Excellence.

First winning the Gold Award in 2020 and last year placing at the bronze level, the 2022 yearbook staff recently learned they placed first again.

To place at the gold level, a yearbook must excel in three areas of focus: All students included in the book (most at least three times), meeting every deadline and exceeding the previous year’s sales by at least 2 percent.

Ag equipment strategies get tricky in a post-pandemic world

Body

Buy new or repair used? As input costs continue to climb in ranching and farming, producers need a smart equipment strategy.

The dealership purchase price of a new farm implement, such as a combine, can top as high as $500,000, while a slightly used model can still carry a hefty price tag of around $150,000. Older versions with more years and hours under the hood vary widely in value.

An alum from one of the program’s two undefeated regular season teams in the 1990s, Shannon Carter has always kept a close eye on the progress of El Reno High School football – even if it was from hundreds of miles away.

“It had been 13 or 14 years since I had gotten to see El Reno play but I had always followed them and always will,” said Carter.

Unable to watch in person the team he once quarterbacked, Carter used social media platforms and the Internet to follow the Indians while coaching at different high schools throughout Texas.
