Stitt’s son among four minors caught with alcohol near Guthrie haunted house

John Andrew Stitt, the 20-year-old son of Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, and three other minors caught in possession of alcohol have been sent a letter by the Logan County District Attorney’s Office offering participation in a deferred prosecution program that involves community service, fee payment and potential revocation if terms of the program are not met or if participants violate the law again during the program period.

Operation Deep Freeze

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star (WAGB 10) and crew departed Seattle last week, and is scheduled to transit to Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze.

Operation Deep Freeze is an annual joint military mission to resupply the United States Antarctic stations in support of the National Science Foundation, the lead agency for the United States Antarctic Program. This marks the 26th year for the Polar Star to render support.

El Reno students place in AFR speech contest

Four El Reno students placed in their respective categories at the American Farmers and Ranchers Southwest District Speech Contest held recently in Cache.

Rylan Fleenor placed third in Intermediate Agribusiness; Brady Hardaway placed second in Senior Agriscience; Aubrey Rainestrain placed second in Senior Natural Resources; and Maddie Tech placed third in Senior Ag Policy.

Pancakes donation

Body

Workers from The Lord’s Harvest joined with the El Reno Masons recently for a pancake breakfast that ended in a donation of $4,000 from the Masons. The Lord’s Harvest volunteers prepared a dozen baskets for a silent auction and the Masons cooked pancakes.

A large crowd, including the entire El Reno football team, were served and in addition, 16 blood donations were gained with the Oklahoma Blood Institute on hand for the event.

Canadian County Lamplighters gather at church for meeting

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at a local church. Carol Stine called the meeting to order and read a devotional and prayer titled “Caring for the Temple.”

Election of officers for the coming year was held, with Stine elected as president, Jan Maddox, vice president, Maxine Little, secretary, and Patricia Morrison, treasurer.

Plans were made for community activities and club projects for 2023.

Maddox gave the leader lesson on “Fun Party Foods.”

She prepared many examples of the foods and offered menu ideas for the holiday season.
