County commissioners earlier this week gave final approval of a floodplain permit for Allsup’s Convenience Store at 3156 N. Banner Road. This is the site of the former Shell food plaza and gas station along Banner Road north of I-40.

The Canadian County Floodplain Board had to review the permit request because part of the property is within the floodplain.

Floodplain board members at an Oct. 7 meeting granted an application from BW Gas & Convenience Real Estate, LLC to construct the new convenience store on the property.

Fall is finally in the air and it’s my favorite time of year! I love the fall colors, pumpkins, mums and pansies and of course, Halloween! I still like to dress up like a witch to hand out candy and see all the little trick-or-treaters in their costumes. And the Halloween decorations are getting better and better every year! Registered voters who become physically incapacitated after 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 and are unable make it to the polls still have an opportunity to cast their ballot. 

Canadian County Election Board Secretary Allen Arnold said state law permits voters who become emergency incapacitated after 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 to vote under special provisions. Arnold said emergency incapacitation is something most voters don’t think about. 

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 for the General Election as well as City of El Reno-Ward 1, City of El Reno-OG&E franchise and City of Yukon Charter Changes elections.
