Bad inning haunts EHS in 5A-2 bid

Body

One bad inning kept El Reno High School’s fast-pitch softball team out of the win column in its District 5A-2 opener last week against Guthrie.

The Bluejays scored seven runs in the fifth inning en route to an 11-6 victory over El Reno.

The loss dropped the Indians to 2-7 on the season.

El Reno was its own worst enemy in the frame as Guthrie had just three hits but was aided by four errors by the Indians defense and a hit batsman.

In the other six innings, EHS outscored Guthrie 6-4.

The teams combined for 14 errors, eight of those by El Reno.
