El Reno harriers win team, individual titles at home

While drawing a small field, the inaugural El Reno High School cross-country meet brought about two team titles and three personal best marks for EHS runners.

The El Reno girls won gold with 24 points, while Chickasha (36) was second and Midwest City (69) third. There were four teams represented in the field.

El Reno’s Lily Owen set the course and meet record by running the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course through Adams Park in 22 minutes and 23 seconds – her personal record.

Freshman Raquel Seymour set her new personal best with a time of 23:21 to take second.

Calumet headed back to state, UC exits playoffs

The last four Class B state championships, between fall and spring seasons, have been decided between Calumet High School’s baseball team and archrival Fort Cobb-Broxton.

The fifth could be on the horizon.

Calumet, ranked second in the state, drew the No.2 seed for the 2025 Class B Fall State Baseball Championships after winning the Region 2 title with a sweep of No.16 Kiowa (12-0) and No.10 Tupelo (15-8).

Tigers, Warriors reach regional finals before bowing out

Both Union City and Okarche High School’s fast-pitch softball teams reached the championship round of their respective Class A regional playoffs before seeing their seasons come to an end.

Union City, playing in the Region 3 Championships, defeated No.19 Pioneer-Pleasant Vale twice by scores of 7-2 and 13-12 but fell twice to third-ranked Canute (16-1/17-1).

The 2-2 split left the Tigers with a 25-11 overall record.

Cougars 14th in Shin against NCAA D2 field

Redlands Community College women’s golf team placed 14th overall at the 2025 Grace Shin Invitational hosted by The Golf Club of Edmond.

The Cougars were the lone NJCAA squad among the field of 19 teams. The remaining were NCAA Division 2 teams including three former RCC players.

Redlands carded a 633 (316-317) for the 36-hole event and beat five other teams including Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and East Central.

The Cougars were just 16 shots out of the top 10.

Redlands shut out by SSC

Despite losing the second of a four-match road swing to powerhouse Seminole State, Redlands Community College women’s soccer team remains sixth in the latest NJCAA Region 2 standings.

The Cougars dropped to 5-5-1 overall and 3-5 in the regional standings with an 8-0 loss to the Trojans.

Redlands was held without a shot in the setback, with goalie Jordan Wentworth allowing all eight goals to Seminole.

The sophomore from Lakeland, Fla., did log a season-high 23 saves, her seventh double-digit effort of the year.
