Stean Whitley

Body

Memorial service for Stean Allen Whitley will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with Rev. Colton Lott officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at Pam and Brock Barber’s home on East Elm Street.

Mr. Whitley passed away Nov. 29, 2019. He was born March 25, 1972, in El Reno. As a toddler he lived in Egypt and Iran. He moved back to El Reno during his grade school years and graduated from El Reno High School.

Joan Patricia Philipp

Body

Joan Patricia Philipp, 83, of Yukon, wife of Rev. Earl Philipp, fell asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, in Oklahoma City. Joan was born June 3, 1936, in Evansville, Ind., to the late Chester and Elizabeth (Sackers) Kleinlein. 

While working as business manager at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, she met her future husband, Earl Philipp, and they were married July 27, 1963, in Kirkwood, Mo. To this union was born their daughter, Adriana R. Philipp, on Feb. 4, 1967.

Robert Leon Dean

Robert Leon Dean of Hinton passed away Nov. 23, 2019, at the age of 70. He was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Pauls Valley. Robert graduated from El Reno High School in 1968. He enjoyed going on float trips (especially with his son-in-law, Ronny), fishing and camping with his friends and family. He also enjoyed watching wildlife roam the canyon where he lived.

James Allen Moore

Body

Funeral services for James Allen Moore were held Friday at the Cross Bridge Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Fryar officiating. Interment was in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Jimmy was born May 28, 1933, in El Reno and was a lifelong resident.

He graduated from El Reno High School and was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was a locksmith and owner of JKM Inc. and served as mayor of El Reno for nine years. He was a member of Rotary and honored as an El Reno High School Distinguished Alumni.

Jewel Lee VonTungeln

Body

Jewel Lee (Smith) VonTungeln was called home by her Heavenly Father on Nov. 19, 2019, in El Reno.

Jewel was born June 25, 1924, in Yukon to Fred and Mary Smith.

Jewel attended Yukon High School and graduated in 1941. She attended Central State Normal College before becoming a teacher.

On June 6, 1946, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Charles VonTungeln. Jewel taught children of various different ages for 29 years in the rural school districts around El Reno.

Doris Slover

Body

Prayer service for Doris Marie Sanders (Morrison) Slover was held Friday in the Benson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at St. Joseph Church in Union City with Deacon Lloyd Menz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

John Gerald Yellow Eagle

Our beloved John Gerald “JG” Yellow Eagle was called to his Heavenly home on Nov. 15, 2019, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. John had double pneumonia and irreversible damage to his lungs.  Maheo did not allow him to suffer, he passed on peacefully in his sleep.

John Gerald was born Sept. 29, 1975, in Clinton. His Cheyenne name was “Hoh Wah Hah Naas.” He was named after one of his grandfathers, Andrew Yellow Eagle.
