John Walter Woods was born April 18, 1937, in Union City to Robert and Ethel (Segress) Woods. He passed away Dec. 27, 2021, in Union City.

John graduated from Union City High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the National Guard. Throughout his life he worked as a farmer and was a master carpenter. On Dec. 23, 1993, he met the love of his life, Janice. Together the two of them enjoyed dancing and going out to the lake.

John enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved the time he spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Janice Woods; children, Glenda Day and husband, Robert, Walter Woods and wife, Julie, Donnie Woods, Earl Woods, Tom Hadding, Brian Hadding and wife, Paula, and Kim Eden and husband, Mark; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Coley; brothers, Pete Woods, Bill Woods and Jimmy Don Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel (Segress) Woods, and brothers, Jack Woods and Ronnie Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Union City Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
