Police seek suspect in hit and run death

El Reno police are looking for a man described as a “person of interest” in the death of a 36-year-old man. 

Assistant Police Chief Kirk Dickerson reported a 911 emergency call was received at approximately 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller said there had been an auto/pedestrian incident in the 300 block of South Grand.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found a man identified as Amos Beaver pinned beneath a motor vehicle. Emergency personnel administered lifesaving measures but the efforts were unsuccessful.

Castro resigns as Yukon city manager after eight months

Body

Yukon City Manager Mike Castro has resigned after eight months in the top municipal administrative position.

Castro informed Yukon City Council members of his decision over the weekend and city employees learned about it Monday morning.

“Mike stepped into this role during a time of critical transition,” Mayor Brian Pillmore said Monday morning.

Stitt appoints Redlands grad to college’s Board of Regents

Body

Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Redlands Community College alumnus Jason Murray to a seven-year term on the college’s Board of Regents, succeeding retired educator Dr. Juanita Krittenbrink.

Murray graduated with an associate degree in animal science from Redlands in 2017 and was a member of the college’s Livestock Judging Team.

“Redlands provided me with an exceptional foundation that has shaped both my education and career path,” Murray said.

Underwood OHCE holds May meeting

Body

Members of the Underwood Club of Oklahoma Home and Community Education met recently for their May meeting with Michele Rivers serving as hostess and lesson leader.

Others attending were Natalia Valenzuela, Vicki Duncan, Janan Fletcher, Ann Ricketts and Renee’ Schweitzer.

After opening with the flag salute, Duncan read the “Obituary of Jesus” as a devotional.

Rivers presented the lesson on “Using Safe Weed Control Products in Your Garden.”
