Body

Vicki Proctor and Fred Koebrick have not been shy about asking for help.

The pair will routinely stand up at community gatherings such as El Reno Now and let the audience know the Canadian County Historical Museum is in need of some volunteer help.

Apparently, some people have been listening.

Recently some younger volunteers have joined the effort to, as Proctor said, “keep the museum moving forward.”

El Reno sales tax numbers took a dip, said Assistant City Manager Tim Young.

Young gave the report at last week’s August city council meeting.

El Reno’s sales tax share of $982,345 was 15 percent lower than the same period last year, Young said. He said most cities across Oklahoma as well as the nation are experiencing a downturn in sales tax collections.

On a brighter note, use tax brought in $183,056 for the same period. That was up 42 percent over the same time a year ago. The hotel/motel tax delivered $41,369 for the reporting period.

Recovering from mistakes

Body

As careful as you may be, you will make mistakes. Although it’s not possible to live mistake-free, there are effective strategies you can use to recover from your mistakes.

Let’s start by considering basic causes of mistakes. You are impatient and act too quickly. You lack knowledge or expertise. You don’t have enough information to make a sound decision. You make a decision based on wrong information.

Regardless of the cause, you need to recover from your mistakes. Once you have recovered, you can identify and address the cause.
