El Reno High School’s wrestling program held its annual Blue/White exhibition and ranking dual last week.

The Indians are working toward their 2022-23 season opener Nov. 29 at Shawnee.

El Reno native Caroline Huber, back row seventh from left, recently played in the 2022 NJCAA National Women’s Soccer Championships in Georgia.

Huber plays for Seminole State College, winner of Region 2 and the West Plains District Championships to earn the fifth seed at nationals.

The Trojans, however, lost to Iowa Western and Polk State by duplicate 3-1 scores at nationals.

Held to single-digit scoring in each of the first three periods, Calumet High School’s girls basketball team suffered a third straight loss as Lomega posted a 55-25 win over the Chieftains.

The loss dropped Calumet to 2-3 on the season.

The Chieftains were 8-of-29 (28 percent) from the field with 15 of the team’s points coming from the 3-point line off 29 percent (5-of-17) shooting.

Allie Harris led the team with seven points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Okarche High School’s boys basketball team made only a trio of 3-pointers and four free throws in last week’s road game with the Firehawks of Harding Fine Arts Academy.

None of those 13 points were needed.

The Warriors shot a blistering 62 percent (31-of-50) from 2-point range to extend their win streak to three games with a 75-14 victory. Okarche improved to 3-1 on the season with the 61-point blowout.

Okarche was 34-of-67 (51 percent) overall from the floor after making 3-of-17 3-pointers. The Warriors were 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team will take a two-game win streak into its NJCAA Region 2 opener against Northern Oklahoma College of Enid after beating Strength in Motion 97-96.

The one-point win, which lifted Redlands to 4-3 on the year, came off two late free throws by Anthony Turner.

The Cougars have won three of their last five games, defeating Next Level Prep (102-52) and New Mexico Military (71-65).

The losses were to Frank Phillips College (71-63) and Clarendon College (106-66).

Riding a late scoring surge in the first period, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Paris Junior College 60-57.

The Cougars have won two games in a row to improve to 3-3 overall and split the season series with the Dragons.

Redlands defeated Southwestern College’s junior varsity (84-68) to begin its win streak after losing three in a row to Paris (65-51), Barton County (76-48) and Hutchinson Community College (64-58).

Matt White is leaving City Hall, but last week he said he wants to go back to school … to serve on the El Reno School Board.

White announced he plans to run for the vacant school board seat created when Dallas Curtis had to resign from the board after moving outside of the district. He made the announcement at the El Reno Now gathering, an event he and former school superintendent Craig McVay created in 2017.

Following long-standing tradition, El Reno High School held its Veterans Day Salute on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

The student-driven event recognized all veterans attending and their service branches, as well as a special tribute to the EHS Veterans of the Year.
