CASA event a near pitch perfect night

Canadian County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) chose a near-perfect night for some songs and suds.

Folks enjoyed a cool breeze as the sun set during Karaoke for CASA.

The event accomplished a dual mission of raising funds and awareness at Wild Horse Park in Mustang.

Tents and chairs were set up in front of a stage for a night of music, as participants took their turn at the microphone.

House district candidates to address monthly breakfast gathering

Body

El Reno Now on Thursday morning is expected to feature candidates for House of Representative Districts 55 and 60.

The monthly event is hosted by Mayor Matt White and outgoing School Superintendent Craig McVay. The breakfast includes a $10 donation with proceeds from this session going to El Reno Mobile Meals.

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. inside the Public Safety Center off SW 27th Street.

Funeral services for Robert Ernest Rinehart will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Hinton Church of Christ with James Cudd officiating. Services are entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Geary.

Robert passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, at his home in Geary at the age of 67. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

USAO students to provide guided tours at Honey Springs Battlefield

CHECOTAH — Honey Springs Battlefield announced that students from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) will serve as tour guides on the six trails that cross the 1,100-acre battlefield on Saturday, June 25, as well as three Saturdays in July: July 2, 16 and 23.

This series of tours coincides with the annual memorial of the battle on July 16 at 10:30 a.m.

The students will point out the exact locations of military actions, highlight key aspects of the engagement and discuss its historical importance.

Ferdie Leon Wilkerson, 83, of Faribault, Minn., passed away June 10, 2022, in Lohman, Mo., at the home of his nephew, Randall Wilkerson.

Ferdie was born to Abraham Lincoln “Abe” Wilkerson and Viola Rose (Ellison) Wilkerson on Oct. 19, 1938, in Calumet. Ferdie and his family moved to Faribault in 1954 to pursue their farming and dairy operation.

He graduated from Faribault High School, then served two years in the U.S. Army. After honorable discharge from the Army, Ferdie returned to Faribault where he became a heavy equipment operator.

Stillwater home to first rare earth metal and manufacturing facility

STILLWATER — Gov. Kevin Stitt and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce secured America’s first rare earth metal and manufacturing facility as USA Rare Earth LLC announced its procurement and development of the first fully-integrated U.S.-based rare earth metal and sintered neo-magnet manufacturing facility in Stillwater.

The company, which controls and operates the Round Top Heavy Rare Earth, Lithium and Critical Minerals Project in Hudspeth County, Texas, has selected Stillwater for its operations.

Graveside services for Carolyn Sue Haynes of Oklahoma City, a former El Reno resident, were held Friday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Carolyn passed away June 4, 2022, at her home at the Quail Ridge Senior Living Homes in Oklahoma City.
