Mobile Meals needs help

Body El Reno Mobile Meals is seeking volunteers with a valid driver’s license to help deliver meals to those in need. Volunteers are primarily needed on Thursday mornings, but there is a need every weekday.

Council tables land purchase

Body El Reno City Council tabled a plan to possibly purchase 10 acres because the address of the land was not included in the agenda for the special meeting. The special meeting was held at noon on Tuesday. Council member Tim Robinson did not attend the meeting.

Blessing Baskets readies for Christmas in July event

Body Blessing Baskets is operating the Families with Children Summer Food Program as well as planning the sixth annual “Festival of the Trees, Christmas in July.” The dinner and auction fundraiser event will be held July 22 at the Palace Event Center, 2310 N. Banner Road.

Spirit, the colorful foal

Body Spirit will be the name of this colorful foal born Sunday, said owner Joseph Knight. A veteran El Reno police officer, Knight said the horse was sired by Snowcapped Spirit and birthed by Maid by Midnight. Knight said Spirit will be made a cutting horse as it grows older.

Kids baseball camp

Body El Reno High School’s baseball program held its first youth skills camp since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The camp brought 80 players from El Reno, Okarche, Calumet and other towns to the Hub Reed Complex for three days of fundamentals.
