Thomas Bennett Jordan, 94, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020. Born in Conway, S.C., he was the son of the late Daniel Delia Jordan and Florrie Bell Skipper Jordan. He was also preceded in death by his son, Thomas Edward Jordan and wife, Rowena Jones Jordan.

Mr. Jordan retired from the U.S. Navy after 25 years as a Hospital Corpsman. Following his military career, he worked as a physician’s assistant, retiring from the Ford Clinic in Lavonia, Ga. He also retired as a physician’s assistant at the Federal Correctional Institution in El Reno.

EHS girls win battle of pressure defenses to pull past Guthrie

El Reno High School’s girls basketball team got a dose of its own medicine last week and spent the better part of four periods enthralled in a top 20 chess match of full-court pressure defenses with Guthrie.

In the end, though, ninth-ranked El Reno made the right moves to pull away for a 50-37 decision over the No.16 Bluejays for its second straight win of the new year.

Indians rally in fourth period, unable to get past miscues, FT woes

Despite shooting 60 percent from the floor in the fourth period, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team, ranked 11th in Class 5A, could not climb all the way back from a series of first-half miscues.

Yet the Indians came close.

Guthrie made 7-of-8 free-throw attempts in the final two minutes as the 19th-ranked (5A) Bluejays held off a feverish rally by El Reno for a 61-60 victory inside Jenks Simmons Field House.
