Two Canadian County elementary schools got some great news in the form of state report cards.
Calumet Elementary received an A and Darlington Elementary received a B. These schools are two of 66 schools that have received top grades in the report card issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The report cards are based on state testing and student attendance.
Officials from both schools cited similar reasons for the students success.
Celebration of Life service for Robert Dean Leck was held Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Bowlegs with Randy McCown officiating. Burial followed in the Little Cemetery, Little, Okla.
Casket bearers included Joseph Leck, James Leck, Gary Belcher, Josh Dunagan, Jeremiah Dunagan and Rodney Troglin. Honorary bearers were Gabriel McCown, Bryan Goodwin, Josh West, Jason Goodwin and Zac Hart.
Robert passed away Jan. 6, 2020, at his home in Somonauk, Ill. He was born Dec. 2, 1972, in Seminole to his parents, Walter Karl Leck and Susan Kay (McCown) Leck.
Prayer service for Marilee Jean Church was held Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Lance Warren officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Marilee died Jan. 6, 2020, at Integris Hospital House in Oklahoma City. She was born July 17, 1954, in Perry, the daughter of Melvin and Mary Cantrell Inselman.
Funeral services for Austin Zane Ray Sample will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Tom Harmon, pastor of the Carpenter’s House officiating. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home
Miriam D. Buford passed away Jan. 3, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
A wake for family and friends was held Friday, Jan. 10 at the Word First Ministries Church, 10220 N. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, also at the church with Pastor H.J. Gunn Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Donnie Lee LeFever were held Dec. 12, 2019, at Roscoe First United Methodist Church, Roscoe, Texas, with Rev. Juanelle Jordan officiating. Burial followed in the Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home, Snyder, Texas.
Mr. LeFever passed away Dec. 7, 2019, in Hermleigh, Texas. He was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Calumet to Byron Russell and Alice Lodema (Gill) LeFever. Donnie was an avid basketball and baseball player and he loved to fish and travel.
