WEATHERFORD – Three interceptions by Weatherford's defense turned into 20 points as the Eagles scored six straight touchdowns en route to a 41-14 win over El Reno.
The Indians wrapped up the non-district portion of their schedule with a 1-2 record after back to back road losses.
El Reno will head into its open week, set up by its “Zero Week” win over Cache, looking to get back on the right track before the start of District 5A-1 play.

After matching home run shots in the first inning, Lawton MacArthur went on a 12-3 run to spoil senior night festivities for El Reno High School’s softball team.
The Highlanders handed El Reno a 14-5 defeat as the Indians slipped to 6-9 on the season. El Reno still stands in third place in the District 5A-1 standings at 4-2.
MacArthur got a two-run homer in the top of the first, only to watch El Reno tie the game in the bottom half of the frame. With Bailey Brothers on board by a single, Chenoa White powered a hit over the wall in left to tie the game.
El Reno High School’s football team took a 1-1 record into Friday’s game at Weatherford. The Indians will be looking to improve on both offensive and defensive numbers (see season stats graphic).

After dropping a heartbreaking top 10 battle with Carl Albert, El Reno High School’s volleyball team has rebounded with a three-match win streak to lift the Indians up a spot in the latest Class 5A poll.
El Reno is now tied with the Titans for third in the state, both trailing Victory Christian and Mount St. Mary.
The Indians posted a 3-1 victory over Duncan by scores of 25-12/25-18/21-25/25-18. Kristen Koehler’s team then added a 3-0 win over Chickasha behind scores of 25-12/25-18/25-20.
Union City High School’s baseball team extended its current win streak to nine games last week with a 14-1 road win over Ninnekah.
The unranked Tigers improved to 12-2 on the fall season after logging 10 hits and six walks off the Owls pitching staff.
The win followed a two-game run in the Dover Festival, beating Mulhall-Orlando (5-1) and Frontier (10-3). The Tigers posted an 8-4 victory over Verden before the festival.
Calumet High School’s softball team continues to carry the hot bats after logging 32 hits in wins over Thomas/Fay-Custer and Waynoka.
The Chieftains improved to 10-5 on the season with a 10-0 shutout of the Terriers and a 13-5 decision over Waynoka. Both wins featured double-digit hits.
El Reno High School’s football team will close out the non-district portion of its schedule Friday night as the Indians travel down Interstate 40 to play the Weatherford Eagles.
It’s the second game of a back-to-back road swing for El Reno, which played at Piedmont last week. It’s the only time this season the Indians will have away games on consecutive weeks.
The series with Weatherford was renewed for a two-year cycle this season after Chickasha opted to drop El Reno from its 2020 schedule.
El Reno City Council will consider Tuesday evening issuing a special permit to the Southern Drag Boat Association for drag boat races to be held Sept. 25-27 at Lake El Reno. If approved, it will be the second such event on the lake this summer after July’s Smoke on the Water. It will be the SDBA’s first-ever event in El Reno.
El Reno High School’s softball team honored its three senior members last week in a ceremony before the start of the home game with Lawton MacArthur.
As tradition, El Reno also honored the three Highlander seniors on the visitors squad with flowers.
