Ijai Johnson led a quintet of players in double digits as Redlands Community College men’s basketball team picked up its first NJCAA Region 2 win of the season with a 96-93 decision over Eastern Oklahoma State College.
The victory came on the heels of a loss to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (93-67), with the split leaving Redlands with a 9-7 overall mark.
The Cougars are tied with Northern Oklahoma of Tonkawa for fifth.
It took less than 15 minutes for El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team to remain undefeated at home, scoring two falls and four forfeit victories en route to a 36-12 decision over Class 5A’s ninth-ranked Hinton.

A day after earning even more first-place votes in the Class B state poll, top-ranked Calumet High School’s boys basketball team logged an 85-30 win over Gracemont in the return to conference action.
Calumet extended its two-year, regular-season win streak to 36 straight games with the 55-point victory.
The Chieftains are 16-0 on the season and 6-0 in Washita Valley Conference games, and grabbed 90 of the first-place votes in the latest poll and 1,942 points.
Only eight other first-place votes were cast toward six other schools.
A stifling defense led to a lopsided margin in transition points as El Reno High School’s girls basketball team returned to District 5A-1 action last week with a 75-13 win over Western Heights.
The 62-point victory, El Reno’s widest winning margin, moved the Indians to 11-0 on the season.

El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team tied for 18th out of 46 teams at the recent Supergirl 64 Wrestling Tournament held at Tulsa Union.

Jadyn Rother scored a team-high 26 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as Okarche High School’s girls basketball team defeated Watonga 59-38 in the third-place game of the 2024 Three Rivers Conference Championship.
Despite going 2-1 in the event, beating Crescent (66-20) and falling to Fairview (52-45), the Warriors dropped out of the most recent Class A poll. Okarche, now 7-6 on the season, was ranked 18th at the start of the three-game set.
