Obituaries

Virginia Phelps, who made her home in Yukon, Oklahoma, was born in Tuscola, Kentucky, on Aug. 20, 1933, the daughter of Jennings Brian Jordan and June Olive Adkins, who preceded her in death. She died peacefully in her sleep June 6, 2025.

Virginia was born and raised in eastern Kentucky during the Great Depression and World War II. Later in life, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked for 40 years at Baptist Hospital in telecommunications. Her real interests were her grandchildren, her many dogs and cats, cooking, candy-making, crocheting and reading. 

Clifford Walter Meyer was born to Walter Meyer and Myrtle E. (Maass) Meyer on Nov. 12, 1933, in Okarche, Oklahoma. At home and surrounded by his family, Clifford left to go to his heavenly home on July 5, 2025. 

Beverly Jean Huber was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Cozad, Nebraska, and was the daughter of Earl and Rose Henninger. She passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at her home in El Reno. 

Beverly graduated from Lexington High School in 1960. She married Daniel (Dan) Huber on May 28, 1960, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska. They were married for 65 years.

Together, they had five children, Russell, David, Vincent, Cody and Dana. She had seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Services for Randall Ray Palmer of Yukon were held Thursday, July 10 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Grant Findley, Rocky Carter and Randy Stafford officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Randy died July 4, 2025, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Yukon. He was born June 10, 1953, in El Reno to Lloyd Ira and Rose Ella (Pinkston) Palmer.

Proud to be an American, he served in the U.S. Navy and worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Memorial service for James Harris Mauldin will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Mount Zion Church under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

John Edward “Jack” Menz Jr., 73, of El Reno, passed away June 27, 2025, in Oklahoma City. A lifelong resident of El Reno, Jack was born Oct. 29, 1951, at the El Reno Sanitarium to Mary Margaret (Maher) Menz and John Edward Menz Sr.

W.K. “Bill” Wiggins passed away June 24, 2025, at his home with his daughter, Ann, and granddaughter, Lauren by his side.  

Bill was born Nov. 12, 1928, to Dr. Carryl and Aletha Wiggins in Exeter, Nebraska. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1946 and joined the United States Marine Corps in August, 1946. During his service career, he was an aircraft mechanic and later was a military police officer during the Korean Conflict.  

Keller Michael Baker, affectionately known as Kell Bell by those who loved him, was born Jan. 25, 1998, in Oklahoma City, alongside his twin brother, Karson Baker. Born 13 weeks premature, Keller faced lifelong limitations, but he never let those challenges dampen his spirit.

He was a happy person with an infectious smile, an innate kindness and great love for his family and for the world. Surrounded by the comfort of his family, Keller passed away June 26, 2025, in El Reno.

Services for Rita Zoe Anthony of Cogar were held Wednesday, June 25 in the Minco High School Auditorium, with burial following at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Rita died June 20, 2025, at her home. She was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Cogar. She was a homemaker and served as a PTA president and was involved with Brownie and Girl Scout troops.

Rita was a lifelong member of Cogar United Methodist Church and Lambuth United Methodist Church. 

Janice Kay Plumley was born Dec. 8, 1947.

She passed away peacefully June 19, 2025, in El Reno, surrounded by the people she loved. 

Janice was the daughter of Raymond Ruskin Stovall and June Evelyn (Banta) Stovall. She was a graduate of Minco High School. She married and soon became a young mother to three sons.

Later she returned to her studies, becoming a certified paralegal, and proudly spent many years working with some of Oklahoma’s most respected attorneys and law firms.
