Get ready for laughs, mystery and a dash of suspense as Centre Theatre for the Arts kicks off its 2025-26 season with “Wrong Window,” a fast-paced comedy directed by Doug Richardson.

Performances will take place at the Centre Theatre in downtown El Reno on Oct. 3, 10 and 11 at 7 p.m., with matinee performances on Oct. 4, 5 and 12 at 2 p.m.

A playful parody of Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic thriller Rear Window, Wrong Window invites audiences into a world of nosy neighbors, mixed-up motives and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 for El Reno Public Schools, Hinton Public Schools and City of Oklahoma City Special Elections.

Canadian County Election Board Secretary Allen Arnold offers these tips to voters, especially those who will be casting a ballot for the first time.

▶ Mark your ballot using the example posted at your polling place and inside your ballot booth. If you make a mistake, do not try to correct it. Instead, take your ballot to the precinct officials. They will destroy the ballot and issue a new one.

The U.S. Cavalry Association kicked off its 2025 National Competition with its annual Honor Ride, which remembers those buried in the cemetery at Historic Fort Reno.

More than 45 visitors and competitors formed an old-fashioned wagon train and rode from the stables at the fort to the cemetery.

The ride, now in its fourth year, was led by the Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard based at Fort Riley, Kan., and featured mule-driven carriages and mounted horses.

Karen Rae Reed passed away at the age of 74 on March 4, 2025, at Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford.

Karen dedicated her life to teaching mathematics to secondary students. From Algebra I to trigonometry, statistics and calculus, she inspired countless young minds with her passion for learning.

Officers of the El Reno FFA chapter participated in the 2025 Oklahoma FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) Conference.

The conference was held at the Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton. 

The eight state FFA officers planned and conducted this year’s conference, which was centered on the theme “On Target: Take Aim.”

Last week, the City of El Reno dedicated and renamed the education pavilion at Lake El Reno for Rev. O.P. Light. 

Born April 7, 1828, Oliver Perry (“O.P.”) Light came to Oklahoma to stake a claim in the April 1889 land run.

He was the first Christian minister of any denomination to preach in El Reno.

Local community group looking for book lovers!

The Friends of the Library is a support group for the El Reno Carnegie Library and has been in operation for more than 40 years.

The group exists to advance and encourage appreciation, understanding, enjoyment and public use of the educational and cultural facilities at the library.
