Close to two dozen people involved in the television and film industry in Oklahoma toured El Reno recently, guests of the newly created El Reno TV and Film Commission. Steve Maddox, who helped create the local effort, organized and led the tour.

Canadian County should put any funds it receives as part of the American Rescue Plan into the search for a permanent water source. Marc Hader, District 1 commissioner, made the statement at last week’s Legislative Breakfast put on by the El Reno Chamber of Commerce.

Inmates caused damage to lights at the Canadian County Jail and action is being taken to help resolve the issue. Canadian County commissioners recently gave their blessing to upgrade the lighting system in the older section of the county jail.

El Reno Police Officer S. Dowdle and his K9 partner Rocco assisted Canadian County sheriff’s deputies with a traffic stop on Interstate 40. The stop took place on June 20. Police reports said Rocco indicated drugs were present in the vehicle.

El Reno City Council tabled a plan to possibly purchase 10 acres because the address of the land was not included in the agenda for the special meeting. The special meeting was held at noon on Tuesday. Council member Tim Robinson did not attend the meeting.
