A special Easter for students

Body

With the help of El Reno VFW Post 382, special education students from Etta Dale Junior High and EHS were treated to a visit from the bunny, which stopped by to say thanks to the students for helping with a class fundraiser in which students stuffed more than 3,000 plastic eggs full of candy.

The eggs were purchased by El Reno residents and will be delivered to yards around the city the night before Easter.

Changes dialed up for 405 area code this month

Body

Changes are coming for telephone customers in the 405 area code.

Starting April 24, all local calls within 405 will require 10-digit dialing. That means you will have to dial the area code plus the local number.

The move to 10-digit dialing for local 405 area code calls is necessary to enable the addition of another area code for the area currently served by only 405.

The additional area code (572) is needed to ensure there will be enough telephone numbers available for the area.

Buy a towel, save a mural

Body

Tea towels may very well help preserve the first mural painted in downtown El Reno. And possibly help create some more.

The El Reno Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street program are partnering in an effort to preserve the mural created by the late Charlie Beecham.

Beecham painted the History of El Reno mural in the early 1980s. It can be seen above the MidFirst Bank drive-thru on Woodson, between Rock Island and Bickford.
