New departments, centers and programs are popping up left and right on college campuses across the country. Their stated focus? To promote “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) on campus.
Candidates interested in filing for City of El Reno Ward 2 will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30.
The Canadian County Association for Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) is selling tickets for two beautiful quilts sizes 58x78 and 90x106. Tickets are $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. The quilts will be raffled off on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Family Night Awards Program at the new Expo and Event Center, 3001 Jensen Road. Winners don’t have to be present to win.

Mother Nature ended up throwing the final pitch in the 2021 El Reno High School Invitational as heavy overnight rains forced the cancellation of day two of the event – including bracket play.
El Reno's softball team dropped two games in pool play. The Indians lost a close 6-5 game to Shawnee in the opening round, before having the second-round game with Newcastle stopped in the third inning due to lightning.
Redlands Community College is not starting a football program.
“We do not have a football program and have no plans to start a program. The only club sport we operate is ESports. All the rest are sanctioned by the National Junior College Athletic Association and we have not declared or have any plans to declare football,” said RCC President Jack Bryant.

El Reno's Heritage Express Trolley should be offering riders a cool trip through the historic downtown area after the air conditioning units on the vintage car are serviced.
Love's Travel Stops has opened its tire retread plant and distribution center in El Reno.
The 220,000-square-foot facility doubles the size of the one it replaces in Grand Prairie, Texas. The new plant is located on Radio Road, just south of I-40.
In a statement, Love's said the new center will create about 50 jobs.
Redlands Community College and Canadian Valley Technology Center have worked together for years to expand educational offerings and support area businesses, knowing that collaboration was the key to true economic prosperity in their service region. The efforts have been recognized by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education with the Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award.

The El Reno Police Department received a call July 15, 2015, that Ida Beard was missing.
Six years later, the 35-year-old Cheyenne and Arapaho female tribal member is still missing. Police have no credible leads.
