JKM a key to growth for nine decades

Body

If it truly takes a village to help raise a child, as the saying goes, then it stands to reason, it must take a family-owned business to help build a community.

Celebrating its 90th year in business, JKM, an El Reno family-owned business, might be “Exhibit A” supporting this argument.

In 1933, Moore Jewelry opened in downtown El Reno. That was the year the late Jimmy Moore was born. He and his brothers, Henry and Clyde, would grow up and join their mother and father, Clyde and Margie Moore, in operating the business that would later transform into JKM.

JKM has been a downtown El Reno mainstay for decades

“I can’t say enough how much this man gives during the process,” said Joanne Riley, C.A.R.T. House’s executive director.

“The success of our gala was the result of his generosity.”

Czech benefit set

Body

Cultures and friendships drive Kyle Dillingham, master fiddler and violinist, which is why it is unsurprising that as Dillingham was fresh off the tarmac, he agreed to play at the Czech Hall, 205 N. Czech Hall Road in Yukon, on Thursday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Dillingham and his band, Horseshoe Road, return to their Czech roots as they look to support that cultural and social center.

Vendor, food trucks sought for county fair

Body

The Canadian County Free Fair Board is seeking vendors and food trucks to be a part of the 2023 annual fair.

Held the fourth full week of August at the Canadian County Fairgrounds and Expo Center, 3001 Jensen Road East, the annual free fair brings a carnival, shopping, food trucks, concerts, livestock show, competitions and more.

To make this the “best fair in county history,” the fair board is making plans to kick things up a notch or two by bringing in more vendors, said board member Ken Carpenter.
