El Reno’s Carnegie Library kicked off its Camp Summer Reading Program last week with a party which included a petting zoo, sidewalk chalk, cornhole board and of course, books. The goal is for every person in the program to read at least 10 hours this summer, with a community goal of 162,000 hours.

Canadian County sheriff’s deputies made a pair of significant drug busts in May, reports from the sheriff’s office said. On May 13, deputies conducted two traffic stops on Interstate 40 in Canadian County. The stops resulted in seizing 40 pounds of marijuana and 19 pounds of fentanyl.

A public trust will be formed to oversee operations at Canadian County’s $20 million fairgrounds venue. County commissioners voted 3-0 last week to create a Title 60 trust for the Canadian County Expo and Event Center.
