Okarche High School’s boys basketball team defended its title at the 2025 Three Rivers Conference Championship with three straight 90-point outings on offense.

The top-ranked team in Class A improved to 15-0 on the season following wins over Oklahoma Bible Academy (99-31), Hennessey (99-53) and Cashion (93-66). It was Okarche’s seventh Three Rivers title overall. The three outings over 90 points pushed OHS’ number of such games this season to 11.

Redlands women perfect in R2 play

Scoring 20 or more points in every period, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team remained on top of the NJCAA Region 2 standings with an 88-58 decision over Western Oklahoma State College.

The Cougars improved to 9-4 on the season with their fourth straight win and 2-0 in the region standings.

Four players scored in double digits, led by Ellie Willard with four 3-pointers and 18 points total. Taryn Crawford knocked down two treys and five 2-point baskets for 18 points.

Alaura Pruitt closed with 12 total and Anni Heikklia chipped in 11 points.

Cougars push win streak to nine games

Savon Myers logged a double-double and paced the Cougars in steals as Redlands Community College men’s baseball team defeated Western Oklahoma State College 70-65.

The win extended the Cougars current win streak to nine games as Redlands moved to 14-2 on the season and 2-0 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

The Cougars logged 18 steals, led by Myers with five, and three blocked shots.

Myers added a team-leading 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Treston Gage followed with 11 points, three steals and a rebound.

El Reno sweeps MacArthur in key District 5A-1 twinbill

Surviving stretches of uncharacteristic turnovers and poor shooting, El Reno High School’s girls basketball team passed its first major test in District 5A-1 play with a 55-34 win over Lawton MacArthur.

“We did not play well tonight,” said El Reno head coach Jennifer Douglas.

The 21-point decision extended El Reno’s current win streak to 38 games dating back to last season. The Indians are now 10-0 on the season and 5-0 in District 5A-1.

Defense sparks home win over Highlanders

You have to look past the offensive numbers to see the real reason why El Reno High School’s boys basketball team defeated Lawton MacArthur last week to remain undefeated on the season - defense.

The Indians logged eight blocked shots, three each from Carter Roman Nose and Tre Davis and two from Kason Haydon, while recording 10 steals en route to a 63-39 victory over the Highlanders.

It was a season-low point total for MacArthur, which slipped into third place in the District 5A-1 standings with its first league setback.

Calumet win streak snapped in festival

Calumet High School’s boys basketball team found out the hard way that all good things tend to eventually come to an end as the Chieftains had their 37-game regular-season win streak snapped.

The top-ranked team in Class B for a second straight week suffered a 61-51 loss to Class A’s 13th-ranked Cyril in the weather-shortened 2025 Alex Longhorn Classic.

The event was scaled back to a one-game festival as Cyril logged a 54 percent shooting effort compared to 32 percent for Calumet. The loss dropped the Chieftains to 12-1 on the season.

RCC women take first step in Region 2 play with victory

Sporting its fourth highest point total of the season, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team kicked off NJCAA Region 2 play with an 87-61 road win over Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Cougars improved to 8-4 on the season.

Redlands scored double digits from the free-throw line with a 14-of-20 mark for 70 percent and 29-of-68 overall from the floor.

The Cougars netted a staggering 15 3-pointers in the blowout off 44 percent shooting, led by Ellie Willard with six treys and four treys by Calumet native Allie Harris.

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team extended its current win streak to eight games last week with a 77-58 road victory over Eastern Oklahoma State College.

The Cougars moved to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

Redlands was 33-of-85 (39 percent) from the floor including a 4-of-21 (19 percent) effort from the 3-point arc.

The Cougars made 30-of-64 shots from inside the perimeter for 46 percent and 5-of-9 (56 percent) from the free-throw line.

Justice Johnson led all scorers with a line of 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

El Reno hosted its second archery shoot of the 2024-25 school term over the weekend at Jenks Simmons Field House.

The event was a qualifying shoot for the state tourneys sponsored by the Oklahoma National Archery in the Schools Program.

The Tier 2 State Championships will be held Feb. 11-12 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.

The Grand Slate (top tier) will be held Feb. 19 at Tulsa Expo Square.
