RCC splits matches to end road swing

Posted in:

Capping off a four-game road swing, Redlands Community College women’s soccer team was shut out by Rose State 2-0 as the Raiders swept the NJCAA Region 2 series over the Cougars.

Redlands was coming off a 4-0 win over Connors State, which gave the season series to the Cougars – both by shutouts.

The split left the Cougars with a 1-3 mark on the road trip and a 6-6-1 overall record.

Redlands dropped to 4-6 in the overall Region 2 standings for sixth place.

However, the region is split into two divisions with Redlands currently third in the North behind Rose State (6-2-1) and Northern Oklahoma College of Enid (5-2-3).

The top three teams in each division make the Region 2 Championship, which Redlands has done just once in recent years.

The South’s top three teams are Seminole (8-0-1), Rich Mountain (8-1-1) and Murray State (4-4).

For the two matches, Redlands got two goals from Ashanti Lewis and one each by Jordan Willeford and Paige Treat. Jaidyn Gonzalez posted two assists and Danielle Cameron added an assist.

Redlands had 40 shots total, led by Lewis with 11, five from Cameron and four by Willeford. Jordan Wentworth and Madysin Kellum played in goal for the Cougars with Wentworth logging nine total saves.
