Free-throw winner

El Reno’s Noah Witherspoon recently won the title at the district level in the 2020 Elks Lodge National Hoop Shoot Competition. The district level was held in Kingfisher, with Witherspoon hitting 17-of-25 free throws to win the 12- to 13-year-old boys division. Noah now moves on to the state level to be held Feb. 8 in Enid at Chisholm High School. If he wins a state title, Noah would represent Oklahoma at the regional level in Dallas in late March. A win in Texas sends him to nationals in Chicago in April.

From his first snap as a Little League player through four years on varsity, El Reno High School senior Rafe Goucher has always worn a jersey with the color blue.

However, that will all change come July when Goucher puts on the jersey that he and every other player this side of Interstate 35 dreams of stretching over their shoulder pads – that red and white jersey of a West All-Stater.

“Since I was 7 years old I’ve only worn blue so that will be weird. However, it will still say All-State or West on it and that will be a huge honor.
