Almost three years ago my car trailer was stolen from near Banner.

By putting a $500 reward on social media, it was noticed at a mini storage on Mustang Road. The manager had high resolution pictures of the suspect, his pickup and the tag number. He lived with his parents two miles away.

I thought the two deputies that came over would go pick him up. Doesn't work that way.

It took almost two years to charge him. And now, after eight preliminary conferences, still no justice.

I have taken off work to go to court, but each time it is continued. The next hearing is Jan. 26.

My question is, why does it have to be this way?

This case is definitely not the only one.

Do we need more judges to speed things up? Seems to me the judges could put their foot down and tell the lawyers to speed things up and get it done.

Do we need a new DA?

I'm guessing most folks don't realize this until unfortunately, they end up in the system.

It's frustrating. And then most criminals get a deferred sentence or probation.

I say some time behind bars might make some re-think what they are doing.

I think we can do better.
