Melvin Thomas Miller, known as Tom, passed away in the early hours of August 8, 2026. He was a good man who lived a good life, and he loved until his heart stopped.

He faced his passing with grace, dignity, poise and strength, taking care of his loved ones until his final breaths.

Born in El Reno on February 7, 1954, and raised on the family farm in Calumet before moving to Chickasha where he attended high school, Tom moved to Norman in 1973 where he later married and raised two beloved daughters.

He provided consistently for his family through work he found satisfying and stimulating as an electrical engineer, designing medical equipment and later digital tools at firms in the OKC metroplex for decades.

In a joyous and unforeseen turn of the page toward the end of his full life, he was reunited with his high school sweetheart after 50 years. Their love reignited, and they enjoyed a few happy and peaceful years of marriage together in what would be his poetic final chapter.

Tom was a skilled woodworker, handyman and tinkerer with a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by cherished daughter, Kate; mother, Cecelia Alice and father, Melvin Clifford; and brother, Mike.

He will be missed by dearest daughter, Sara; brother, Jerry and sister, Sandy; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his bonus round family; beloved wife, Theresa; mother-in-law, stepson, treasured stepdaughters and their spouses and children.

A casual Crossover Tribute will be held August 22, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. James Park Clubhouse in Norman. Please bring your bathing suit if you want to swim!
