Mass of Christian Burial for Frances M. Mosby will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 at St. John of Nepomuk Church in Yukon with Revs. Rex Arnold and Robert Strittmatter and Deacon John Teague officiating. Burial will follow in the El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Paula Scott

Body

Services for Paula Jo Scott were held Friday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Revs. Joe Scott and Jerry Cradduck officiating. Burial followed in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. 

Paula died July 14, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Dumas, Texas.

A longtime resident of El Reno, she worked many years at Park View Hospital. She was a member of the Fresh Anointing Church.

Eileen Imogene Niles-Scott

Body

Eileen Imogene Niles-Scott passed away June 26, 2020, at her home in El Reno at the age of 91.

She was born Feb. 15, 1929, in El Reno to Albert and Juanita Niles. She had two brothers, Benny and Paul Niles, and two sisters, Gloris Niles-Sheets and Charolet Plunk. Each have preceded her in death.

After World War II, Eileen served with the Red Cross. Later in life, she became a Nursing Home Administrator, serving at nursing centers in Kingfisher and in Chickasha.

She was chosen to be an Ombudsman for the El Reno Nursing Home.

Iris Marie Cobert Parker

Body

Iris Marie Colbert Parker of El Reno was laid to rest at Faith Family Church on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11 a.m. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Marie was born May 17, 1924, in Watonga to Ira and Minnie (Taylor) Gray, and passed away on June 30, 2020, in Oklahoma City.

Marie married George Colbert on Jan. 27, 1940, in Watonga. They had 11 children. She was known as an extraordinary cook, homemaker, worshipper, prayer warrior and mother.

Robert Mooney

Body

Funeral services for Robert Elmo (Bob) Mooney of Geary will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 at First Baptist Church in Geary with Rev. Darrin Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Fay under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.

Mr. Mooney passed away July 11, 2020, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1934, in Fay.  

Bob is survived by his children, Lyle Mooney of El Reno, Janet Gregg of Phenix City, Ala., Robin Hoel of Lovell and Kevin Mooney of Oklahoma City, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don Wesley Schmidt

Don Wesley Schmidt, 68, of El Reno passed away at his home Sunday, July 5, 2020, from a long hard-fought battle with cancer.

Don was married to his lovely wife, Marilyn (Janning) Schmidt for over 45 years. They made their home in El Reno and have resided there from the early ‘70s until now.

Don was born in Chickasha on March 15, 1952, to parents, Conrad and Irene Schmidt. He grew up in the Tabler community and attended Friend School in Chickasha from kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated from Amber Pocasset High School in 1970.

Richard Brian McCartney

Body

Richard Brian McCartney, 63, passed away July 7, 2020, at his home in Oklahoma City. Richard was born in El Reno on Oct. 5, 1956, and was a 1974 graduate of El Reno High School. He spent his career in the grocery industry working in Arizona, California, Alaska and Oklahoma.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Mildred McCartney.

Funeral services for longtime El Reno businessman George Ghata will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at St. Elijah Orthodox Church in Oklahoma City. Burial is set for Rose-Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.

Ghata, of Oklahoma City, died July 8.

Margaret June White

On June 1, 1941, Dez Allen gave birth to Margaret June White in El Reno. June, as she was affectionately called, made El Reno her home for the majority of her life.

During her early years, she accepted Christ as her Savior, working faithfully throughout her life, serving as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the Women’s Mission Auxiliary Committee. She also gave thanks and praises to the Lord by singing in the church choir, in addition to other devoted acts of service for her church community. Prior to her passing, June became a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
