OKLAHOMA CITY – While both teams fell short of reaching the title game of their respective classes, Calumet and Okarche High Schools girls basketball teams served notice of things to come.

Calumet closed the season with a 22-8 record and a No.6 ranking following a 69-50 loss to fourth-ranked Turner in the quarterfinals of the Class B1 Oklahoma Basketball State Championships.

It was the first 20-win season for the Chieftains since 2020 and came after back-to-back seasons with single-digit win totals.

Calumet was making its ninth trip to state.
