MUSTANG – El Reno High School’s girls basketball team was handed a wake-up call prior to the upcoming Class 5A playoffs as Mustang defeated the Indians 68-43 to close out the regular season.

The loss to the Class 6A Broncos dropped El Reno to 19-4 on the season.

It was the first meeting between the two schools since the finals of the Shawnee Invitational in 2022 – which Mustang won by 15 points.

From the sidelines - Secret is out: Roman Nose sets El Reno’s career scoring mark

Body

With every shot that Carter Roman Nose took in last week’s game with Carl Albert, there were collective gasps rolling out of the mouths of El Reno fans along with the occasional, “There it is.”

Car wash gets green light, fireworks to fly in annexed areas

Body

A new automated car wash is expected to be built on South Country Club and residents in newly annexed areas will be allowed to shoot off fireworks, as well as continue with open burning with some stipulations in place.

The El Reno City Council took the action at last week’s regular meeting.

Scott and Rachel Spurger requested 6.11 acres on South Country Club, directly across from Redlands Community College, be rezoned to allow for the car wash and later construction of some office and retail space.
