Ribbon-cutting held for newest casino, travel stop on I-40

A grand opening ceremony opened the newly constructed Cheyenne and Arapaho Travel Center, located off Exit 108 on I-40, west of El Reno. 

Beatrice Fingernail, general manager for the new travel center, welcomed those attending the celebration. 

“It wasn’t too long ago we were doing the groundbreaking here and I was just a worker in IT. Now looking at everything and how our tribe has flourished and has come with another business, this is really an amazing day.

Winds described as “hurricane force” battered Oklahoma Friday, March 13.

The winds created major problems for travel and led to devastating wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes.

Especially hard hit was the Stillwater area, with an estimated 200 homes destroyed by wildfires there.

Redlands Community College’s TRIO Student Support Services program is hosting a fundraiser raffle offering one lucky winner tickets to see the acclaimed performance of “The Boys from Oklahoma.”

This raffle presents a unique opportunity to support the valuable work of TRIO Student Support Services while getting a chance to experience this outstanding show.

Raffle entries are available for just $10 each, or participants can increase their chances by purchasing three entries for $25.

Members of the Oklahoma Senate have overwhelmingly passed legislation to reduce the red tape facing the families of children with special needs who wish to access a state scholarship program.

“We are talking about a very small minority of vulnerable students and their families, and we have created this wonderful program to provide opportunity to each one of these individuals to be the best that they can be,” said state Sen. Julie Daniels, R-Bartlesville.
