Indians grab third straight trip to 5A state tourney

While the score was not the best of the season, El Reno High School’s girls golf team got the end result it was seeking – a spot in the 2025 Class 5A Girls State Golf Championships.

Playing in the 5A regional at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club in Ada, El Reno carded a 383 to place fourth and punched a ticket to state.

The top six teams in the two regionals move on to the championship to be played May 5-6 at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City.

Linksters take seventh in 5A preview in Enid

El Reno High School’s boys golf team now knows the score range it will need to shoot in order to make state following a seventh-place finish at the 2025 Class 5A Boys Preview.

The Indians, ranked 16th in the state, carded a 330 on the Meadowlake Golf Course layout in Enid, site of the upcoming 36-hole regional tournament.

Tulsa Bishop Kelley won the event with a 296, followed by two Carl Albert squads (300/310).

Classen SAS (311), Guthrie (314) and Newcastle (318) finished ahead of El Reno.

Calumet jumps back on track to state with Railroaders sweep

CALUMET – Twelve hits over two games was enough offense to carry Calumet High School’s baseball team to its fifth straight spring district title and a step closer to the state tourney.

Calumet, ranked second in the state, won the Class B, District 2 Championship by sweeping the Waynoka Railroaders by scores of 9-0 and 12-0 to improve to 13-7-1 on the season.

OKARCHE – Ava Meier hit a walk-off double to score Harper White as Okarche High School’s slow-pitch softball team completed a sweep of the Canadian County small schools with a 5-4 win over Calumet.

Okarche, ranked No.17 in Class 3A, moved to 13-8 on the year, while Calumet slipped to 8-10.

The Chieftains tied the game in the top of the seventh when Randy Upchego doubled and scored on a groundout by Jacks Bates.
