Female trio top El Reno High School students from the Class of 2025

El Reno High School 2025 valedictorians are Skylar Ayers and Maddie Moss.

These students earned this distinction by attaining all A’s during their high school career and taking 13 Pre-AP and AP courses with an AP course in each core subject.

Rylan Fleenor is the 2025 salutatorian. She took the same number of Pre-AP and AP classes and has the next highest GPA.

The three are members of the National Honor Society and the 6X Renaissance Program.

County, ER may connect for Internet

El Reno may soon be adding Canadian County to its Fast Connect Internet customer base. 

On Monday, commissioners agreed to table indefinitely contracting with Cox Communications for Internet service while a new courthouse is being built. 

Commissioner Tom Manske said the county will need buildings hooked to Internet service during the transition into the new courthouse.

During the transition, the county will utilize the former DHS building for administrative purposes.

Police seek suspect in hit and run death

El Reno police are looking for a man described as a “person of interest” in the death of a 36-year-old man. 

Assistant Police Chief Kirk Dickerson reported a 911 emergency call was received at approximately 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller said there had been an auto/pedestrian incident in the 300 block of South Grand.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found a man identified as Amos Beaver pinned beneath a motor vehicle. Emergency personnel administered lifesaving measures but the efforts were unsuccessful. 

City, Redlands partnership recognized by regents

The collaboration between Redlands Community College and the City of El Reno has been recognized by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education with the prestigious 2025 Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award.

This honor celebrates the dynamic partnership that has significantly contributed to education, workforce development and community growth throughout the El Reno area.
