Hill says summer run good for young roster

While the end result was a winning campaign, El Reno High School head baseball coach Keith Hill said the short summer season was more about an inner look than the outward product.

“About like anything else, I saw some really good things and not so good. I got to see a lot of the young kids and the junior varsity kids and that was important,” said Hill.

El Reno went 4-4 in the league with games played at Southeast and Putnam City. Hill said it was supposed to be a league comprised of incoming freshman and junior varsity players, but he subbed in some veteran players.

Approved by the El Reno School Board in January, district athletic director Rodney Haydon said the board’s installation was delayed by rain.

Golf, lake and fireworks set for Fourth of July

Body

El Reno will celebrate the Fourth of July on Friday with a party at the lake that opens early with golf and ends late with the traditional fireworks show.

Crimson Creek Golf Course will be open for business at 7 a.m., and as a tribute to veterans and active duty military members, the price for a round of golf will be cut by $10.

The veterans/active duty special has been running for several days and is good through July 6. A military ID is required for the discount.
