RCC win streak snapped in final tourney of fall slate

Redlands Community College’s golf team had its perfect run through the fall portion of the 2020-21 schedule snapped in the final tournament before breaking until spring.

The Cougars took second place at the Sydney Cox Invitational, which was played on the East and West Courses at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.

Redlands fired a two-day total of 593 after posting rounds of 300 and 293 over the final 18 holes.

Texas Wesleyan edged out the Cougars for first place (591) by two strokes on the final day with a 291 after the two teams were tied after day one.

New Hope women’s group holds meeting

Members of New Hope Women’s Missionary Union met recently at New Hope Church for the group’s monthly meeting. Carol Johnson offered opening prayer and praises. Mary Jones welcomed members and led the reading of the Watchword and Mission Statement.

A mission goal was set for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering through church and missions offerings.

Members were reminded of the annual gift bag donations for Mobile Meals in December. The bags will be filled and taken to Mobile Meals for pre-Christmas delivery.

Duncan hosts Underwood HCE monthly gathering

Underwood Oklahoma Home and Community Education Association of Canadian County met recently in the home of Vicki Duncan. Natalia Valenzuela called the meeting to order and led the flag salute. Ann Ricketts read minutes of the previous meeting, with Sue Snyder giving the treasury report.

Members voted to bring cash donations to the next meeting for Blessing Baskets.

Vicki Duncan presented the lesson on DIY Recycling Projects. She noted that paper, newspapers, magazines, cardboard boxes and wooden boxes are some of the easiest items to recycle from home.
