SWOSU joins fight against COVID-19

Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford is now home to a machine that makes hypochlorous acid that is used to help disinfectant rooms and buildings during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

SWOSU was made aware of the machine by the Custer County Emergency Management Office, and the equipment was supplied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Oklahoma Emergency Management Office.

Loretta Kaupke, formerly of Braman, Okla., passed from this life on Dec. 5, 2020, in El Reno at the age of 97 years. Loretta Mae Provolt was born in Ames, Okla., on May 6, 1923, to Millard and Velva (Hedges) Provolt.

The family moved to a farm southwest of Drummond in 1929 where she attended school for eight years at Del Norte Country School.

She attended high school in Drummond her freshman, junior and senior years, while attending Enid High her sophomore year. After graduation, she worked for her Uncle Harold Hedges while living with her grandmother, Lottie Hedges.
