For more than 14 minutes, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team went toe-to-toe with Del City last week as the Indians exchanged baskets with the Class 6A powerhouse in a key Suburban Conference matchup.

Unfortunately, the effort seemed to wake up the sleeping giant.

Riding an advantage in size and strength in the paint, Del City used a 13-1 run to close out the first half and cruised to an 81-58 win over the Indians. The loss was the third in a row to Del City as El Reno slipped to 4-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Suburban Conference standings.
