In an effort to streamline communications with the central office, the El Reno Public Schools Board of Education voted to begin using the Thrillshare/Apptegy program to exchange information.

“It’s streamlining communication between board members and this office for informational purposes. Every time I need to give them a heads up on information items, it’s one button versus sending a text or an email to each one individually,” said El Reno Superintendent Craig McVay.

ASTW starts with cruise along city’s original Route 66

A Small Town Weekend will take a new, but old route Friday evening when the three-day festival put on by the El Reno Cruisers kicks off.

The opening Friday cruise will follow the original Route 66 that snaked through El Reno prior to the opening of the Rock Island overpass in 1947.

The original Route 66 in 1926 entered El Reno from the east and turned north on what is now Shepard. It then turned west onto Elm before going north on Hoff and then west on Wade before turning north on Choctaw and then west on what was Russell and is now Sunset.
