CPT (RET) William James Rinehart, 72, died at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

CPT (RET) Rinehart was a faithful husband, loving father, loyal soldier and celebrated veteran having achieved the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.

CPT (RET) Rinehart was born on June 2, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. and was raised and attended school in El Reno, OK. Upon graduating El Reno High School in 1966 he briefly attended the local Junior College before enlisting in the U.S. Army Infantry in 1967.

Fate “Pebbles” Hammond was born in Oklahoma City on April 12, 1997, to Teresa Powell and Henry Richards.

She died June 1, 2021, in Oklahoma City.

Fate attended Windsor Hills Baptist Church at an early age. As a child, Fate enjoyed playing video games, riding bikes and playing with cousins and friends. She absolutely loved animals and always had several pets. She was known for rescuing stray dogs.

Fate attended Putnam Heights Elementary, Taft Middle School and Talking Leaves Job Corps in Tahlequah.

A steady, at times heavy rain moved the traditional Memorial Day ceremony under a pavilion at the El Reno Cemetery on Monday.

And while the weather kept the turnout small, those who did attend heard some stirring comments reflecting on the freedom-saving sacrifices made by members of the U.S. military.

A professional rodeo and a new barrel racing contest will highlight the Canadian County Free Fair that will unfold in August at a brand-spanking-new venue.

The 67th Annual Canadian County Free Fair will be staged Monday, Aug. 23 through Saturday, Aug. 28 at the new Canadian County Expo and Event Center.

Canadian County’s $15.2 million, multi-use fairgrounds complex nears completion on a 50-acre site at Jensen and Alfadale roads just south of Interstate 40.
