Textbooks apparently didn’t sweep Tulsa massacre under the rug

A common theme of commemorations of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre was that the event was swept under the rug.

Some officials say the way schools have handled the 1921 massacre provides another glimpse of how students can be shortchanged by a one-size-fits-all approach to education where providers are assigned based solely on geographic location, and demonstrate why families need robust school choice.

Indians take summer set from Red Wolves

OKLAHOMA CITY – With a large number of new players on the varsity roster this summer, El Reno head coach Keith Hill went looking for extra games to get added playing time.

Hill was able to pick up two games outside of Red Dirt League play last week against Capitol Hill, with El Reno defeating the Red Wolves 11-0 and 5-0.

El Reno improved to 3-3 on the summer season with the sweep. The Indians are still 1-3 in Red Dirt League play.

Gloria Kathrine Bleigh

Gloria Kathrine Bleigh passed away June 9, 2021, at the age of 86.

She was born to Talbert and Ella Grimes on Nov. 11, 1934, on Kickapoo Street in Tecumseh. Gloria and her family moved to El Reno when she was 7.

On Aug. 9, 1952, Gloria married the love of her life, Leslie Bleigh, and the two had three beautiful girls, Peggy, Kathy and Gaylyn. In her downtime, Gloria loved to crochet and do all kinds of crafts. She also loved to raise canaries.
