4th of July events set around city

Body

El Reno will celebrate the Fourth of July over a three-day period beginning Friday evening with a concert and fried-onion hamburgers served up at the Canadian County Museum.

The celebration is a welcome contrast to a year ago when the national celebration was subdued by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Friday evening concert is free and will feature Coyette and the Haywire Band at 6 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Concessions will be available.

Council seeks out property purchase

Body

After a week delay, the El Reno City Council approved entering into negotiations to possibly purchase 10 acres on SW 27th Street.

The unanimous council vote came Tuesday during a special meeting of the council. The issue was originally discussed the week before but because the physical address of the property was not included on the agenda, council opted to put the matter off until a second special meeting could be called, this one with the address included.
