Snow keeps El Reno classes on ice

Body

El Reno Public Schools Superintendent Matt Goucher knows there is no better learning environment than having students and teachers together under one roof.

So making the decision to shut down the district due to weather is something he does not take lightly.

“You have got to put the safety of the students and the staff foremost. You want to keep everything safe,” said Goucher.

The district canceled classes on Friday, Jan. 23, the day before the storm, which ended up dumping 10 inches of snow on El Reno over a 48-hour period, according to the National Weather Service.
