Haydon nets five treys, season-high points in win of ’Jays

Down multiple starters for a second straight game, senior Kason Haydon stepped up with a season-high scoring performance to lead El Reno High School’s boys basketball team past rival Guthrie.

The 64-57 road win gave El Reno the season sweep of the Bluejays and moved the Indians to 7-12 on the season.

The seven-point decision also snapped a three-game District 5A-2 losing streak for the Indians. El Reno is now 4-7 in district play and holds a two and a half game lead over Guthrie for fifth place.

El Reno High School’s boys wrestling team took 12th recently at the 2026 Chickasha Classic, pushing three grapplers into the placing matches.

George Stewart (165) was the highest finisher among the three in fourth with a 3-2 record as El Reno collected 68 total team points. Stewart’s wins were all by fall, second round or better, with the fastest being 24 seconds over Santa Fe South’s Ulises Melendez.

Sharp leads ER girls with top 10 finishes

A two-tournament swing over four days netted El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team four top 10 finishes, two of those from Bentley Sharp.

Sharp (235) took the silver in the 2026 Putnam City North Panthers Classic with a 1-1 record. She scored a 2:32 fall over Shawnee’s Zaleah Neugent.

In the same event, Lilie Arrasmith (145) went 1-2 to place fourth, posting a 53-second fall over U.S. Grant’s Amari Crayton.

Seeley Chronister (140) went 1-1 with a 9-4 win over Locust Grove’s Aspyn Bates.
