Special donations were made to three local nonprofits in honor of Margaret “Sue” Terneus, former El Reno Public Schools special education teacher. Terneus died Dec. 25, 2021.
Sue was an EHS special education teacher for more than 20 years. Her husband, John Terneus, a retired El Reno Public Schools teacher, made special donations in memory of his wife.
The Canadian County OSU Extension Office will assist with the creation of the newest Oklahoma Cattlewomen’s Association Chapter in Canadian County. The kickoff and social will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Canadian County Education Building located on the old fairgrounds at 220 N. Country Club Road.

For the 32 cancer patients who were receiving care at Clinton Regional Hospital, it has meant looking elsewhere for life-saving chemotherapy infusions.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman said he will be signing on as the Senate author of fellow Ponca City Republican Rep. Ken Luttrell’s House Bill 1027 to legalize sports betting in Oklahoma. Coleman said the change would be an economic boon for the state.

Khristan Strubhar has made history as Canadian County’s first female district judge.
Her mother, Reta Strubhar, was this county’s first female associate judge more than 30 years ago, before becoming a long-serving Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals judge.
Retired Judge Strubhar administered the oath to her daughter, as Khristan Strubhar became a district judge during a swearing-in ceremony Jan. 27 at the Canadian County Courthouse.
An inmate was allegedly caught carrying methamphetamine into the Canadian County Jail when the drugs were revealed by the sheriff’s new full-body scanner.
Christina Dawn Beck a/k/a Yarber, 44, was charged Jan. 19 in Canadian County District Court with bringing contraband into jail. The felony crime is punishable by one to five years in state prison and/or a $100 to $1,000 fine.
