Ross Makers Market attracted a number of local artisans over the weekend as well as potential customers.

Trinity Lutheran Child Development Center (TLCDC) has achieved a significant milestone by earning a five-star rating — the highest distinction possible for child-care centers in Oklahoma. This achievement reflects the center’s dedication to providing exceptional care and education for children in the community.
A company has been selected to print Canadian County’s election ballots in 2025.
Midwest Printing Co. of Sapulpa was awarded an annual contract to provide regular, absentee and sample ballots for the Canadian County Election Board.
Commissioners awarded the lowest and best bid that allows Midwest Printing to continue providing ballots for another year.
“We work with Midwest (currently) and they’re fantastic,” Election Board Secretary Allen Arnold said.
El Reno photographer Ed Zweiacher has created three photo calendars for 2025.
Titled “El Reno,” “My Switzerland” and “Noah's Ark,” the calendars are available by contacting Zweiacher at edzweiacher@gmail.com.
Zweiacher said he plans to have a “Blue Ribbon” calendar of photos available for 2026.
He said it would include photos that earned him top awards at the county and state fairs as well as art shows.

El Reno could be expanding.
The city council voted to begin proceedings that would expand the city limits to the south and east. City Manager Matt Sandidge said the move is a “proactive” effort to help control development as Oklahoma City moves to the west. He said the city has also been approached by developers who have an interest in some of the area.
The 5-0 vote was cast at Tuesday’s December council meeting.

Some young students at Roblyer Middle School may have added another letter to the acronym. In their world, STEM is more like STEEM … which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Empathy and Math.
That’s how a presentation they made last week to a professional landscape architect, a city planner and a city manager came off.
Students and staff from El Reno High School came up with a variety of items as presents for the 2024 Gifts for the Yanks program, which has run for 79 straight years at EHS.
The presents were wrapped and delivered to the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has named T.J. Dill as chief engineer and Steven Gauthe as state maintenance engineer.
El Reno’s Dill will serve alongside Brian Taylor, the current ODOT chief engineer in a co-capacity until Taylor’s retirement this coming summer.
In this senior position, he will oversee all statewide engineering and operations activities.
An El Reno High School graduate, Dill earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Oklahoma State University in 2011.
