The El Reno Community Theatre will host its production of “12 Angry Men,” a 1954 teleplay by Reginald Rose that was made into a movie in 1957, directed by Sidney Lumet.

Roger Johnson is directing the local production, with performances scheduled inside the Centre Theatre in downtown El Reno.

Show dates and times are Aug. 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.

Welcome to school year 2023-24!

The excitement and hopeful anticipation I feel at the beginning of a new school year has never faded, even though I am about to begin my 32nd year in education.

Our faculty and staff are ready to start the work required to achieve our mission, which is to ensure every student’s achievement and to inspire excellence. Our goal is to strive to get 1 percent better every day in all that we do.

We are expecting a fantastic year in our after-school programs!

The district was able to secure special funding to offer free after-school care to students in pre-kindergarten through second grade for one more year.

Specifically, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students will be at Hillcrest, while first- and second-graders will be at Rose Witcher in play-based programs.

Third through sixth grades also have one more year with their free, grant-funded program at Roblyer Learning Center.

Dear El Reno High School Families:

I hope this letter finds you relaxed, refreshed and ready to begin a new school year.

I am excited, along with the dedicated and enthusiastic staff, to welcome back all of our students. I want to remind you all of our mission at El Reno Public Schools to “Ensure every student’s achievement and inspire excellence.” The first step in fulfilling this mission is to help every student feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our EHS family.

Senior year of high school can be a whirlwind of activity. The early months are spent wrapping up standardized testing and applying to college. Since many colleges and universities ask for mid-year transcripts for students to aid with class placement and/or make final admissions decisions, students also need to maintain their studies and grades throughout the fall and winter.

I am honored to join the El Reno Learning Center family and take the reins as leader.

We are excited about our new school year and the great changes that have come with it as we continue to build relationships with our students, families and community. Our commitment continues as we strive to prepare our students for their future and all that awaits them upon graduation.
