BOY — Alexandra and Taylor Sims of Yukon announce the birth of their son, Augustus Arden Sims, born April 3 at Yukon Integris Canadian Valley Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 19 inches in length. Augustus has three siblings, Reagan, 6, Beau, 2, and Stetson, 1.

Riverside, Maple and Darlington schools held a banquet recently in the Maple gymnasium inducting new members of the Canadian County Rural Elementary Schools Honor Society. Students must maintain a 3.75 or higher GPA in their courses for the entire year for inclusion.

Catholic Daughters of America Court Salve Regina #847 held their April meeting recently in the parish hall with Regent Karen Huber calling the meeting to order. Roll call found four officers present, three members and two guests, District Deputy Marcie Shiel and Rosie Church.

The Underwood chapter of Oklahoma Community Home and Education met recently at a local restaurant with Bernita Davis serving as hostess. She presented the lesson on Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, which is associated with Earth Day on April 22.

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Members welcomed guest Donna Wehmuller. Carol Stine called the meeting to order and led in the flag salute. Jan Maddox presented the devotional titled “Leap for Joy.”

When gardeners plant their vegetable and flower gardens, the edibles and ornamentals typically are located in different places. But planting them in the same bed is beneficial to pollinators.
