ER Chamber’s Garden Party Tour set for June 27

Body

A Garden Party Tour will be held in El Reno on June 27.

The tour, put on by the El Reno Chamber of Commerce, is supported by Ross Seed, Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply, Voodoo Hydro-El Reno and Walmart.

The tour will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and will include garden viewing at 220 N. Country Club Road, 2106 S. Evans Road, 1108 SE Heritage Drive, 515 S. Hoff, 520 S. Hoff and 616 SW 26th St.

Wristbands for the tour cost $15 and are available at Ross Seed and the El Reno Chamber of Commerce. There will be drawings for prizes.

Approximately 711 students from Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Weatherford and Sayre completed requirements for associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees after the 2021 spring semester.

Indians find mixed results in Red Dirt

Following six straight road games to kick off the season, El Reno High School’s summer baseball team jumped back into Red Dirt League action last week, splitting home games with Putnam City West and tying Destiny Christian.

The Indians are now 5-5 overall and 3-5 in the RDL Wooden Bat Division after beating the Patriots 6-1 in the series opener before dropping the nightcap 13-12. El Reno tied Destiny Christian 2-2 before losing the second game by a 12-4 score.

Island headed to Haskell

Body

El Reno High School graduate Ryan Island, seated center, signed a national letter of intent recently to play basketball for Haskell Indian Nations University located in Lawrence, Kan.

He is the second player off El Reno’s program to sign with a college team in the sport.

Jennings earns national honor; ER grads score in All-State

Body

El Reno High School’s Dailey Jennings earned All-American status earlier this month wrestling for Team Oklahoma at the 2021 USA Wrestling 16-and-under National Duals.

Formerly known as the Cadet National Duals, the event was held in Westfield, Ind.

Jennings earned the national honor in Greco-Roman for the Oklahoma Outlaws Blue Squad, which won Pool C with a 49-27 win over Team Idaho. The squad would be the national runner-up after losing a 48-26 Gold-Silver Championship match to Team Minnesota.
