CALUMET – Calumet High School’s boys basketball team features a roster of several players who can flip the script on any opponent at a moment’s notice, and last week it was guard Hunter Arnold’s turn.

Tied with Hydro-Eakly at 8-all with two minutes left in the first period, the junior turned back-to-back steals into uncontested layups and a four-point lead. He added a third steal and a basket less than a minute later as the Chieftains never trailed again in a 64-34 win over the Bobcats.

CALUMET – Calumet High School’s girls basketball team played solid offense and defense against Class A’s 15th-ranked Hydro-Eakly, but unfortunately, neither element came together for long periods of time.

The unranked Chieftains were outscored in all four periods as the Bobcats spoiled Calumet’s senior night activities with a 58-28 win.

Calumet was coming off a 43-29 loss to Laverne a day earlier as the Chieftains have now lost three games in a row and five out of the last six.

The losing streak leaves CHS with an 11-11 season record.
